Goals As a realtor, I have the privilege of working with many people who are achieving one of their biggest lifetime goals, buying a home. But I also believe that its just as important to set goals for the smaller things you want to get out of life. My feeling is that if you don’t plan for it, it just won’t happen! It can be overwhelming to think about 100 goals that you want to do, but I would encourage you to take some time and do just that. Obviously, none of this will be set in stone, but what you might find is an overall theme that stands out. Perhaps you add travel to Nicaragua, learn to speak Spanish and learn how to surf…and then you realize you can do all of these things in one trip! It might take you a few days or weeks to formulate the list, but you can always come back and add or adjust. I usually take a look at my long list about once or twice a year and see what I’ve completed without even thinking about it! When I turned 47, I took my list and created a “50b450” list, which I’ve now made into a blog. Having a deadline has definitely made planning things a priority! But I’ve also learned to be flexible and am adjusting the list accordingly once a year. Another way I’ve learned to work on goals is to shorten the timelines. After reading the book “The 12 Week Year” ,I’ve started focusing on my top three goals for a quarter. This has helped me cross more items off my yearly plan, both personal and business, then ever before. I keep a visual aid by having those three goals stuck on my computer so I see them all day, every day! I absolutely love helping people achieve their goals, whether its buying a house or finishing a race. Feel free to reach out to me for ways to start your Living List or for just general support or accountability…anything to help you live your life to the fullest!
